“Effort and courage are not enough without purpose and direction.”
-John F. Kennedy
What We Believe
- Entrepreneurism is the beating heart of economic growth and upward mobility.
- Financial literacy is a necessity for everybody, but especially for business owners.
- Growth in small businesses supports growth in our communities.
- People drive a business’ culture, culture drives innovation, and innovation drives profits and competitive advantage.
- Treat all people with respect and dignity; support your team, and they will support you.
- Always create more value for clients than you receive in exchange.
- There are many measures of success – our job is to identify which measures are most important to our clients and support their pursuit of them.
- Financial planning should be available to clients when they need it, not only at the onset of a relationship.
Why We’re Here
About Tao Financial
With over a decade of experience working in some of the most highly-regarded areas of the financial services industry, our founder decided to use his knowledge and expertise to support businesses and individuals in the community. Tao Financial’s founder, Jeff George, recognized that business owners often need a more specialized form of comprehensive financial advice than traditional financial advisers offer. If business owners received proper financial guidance, more businesses would be open and fewer families would be experiencing financial hardship. Whether through a lack of background and education, a lack of interest, or restrictions placed on their activities by the firms who employ them, traditional financial advisers rarely offer business-owner clients a holistic, integrated view of how their personal and business lives interact.
Here at Tao Financial, we have the necessary knowledge, experience, willingness, and independence to help you find true financial clarity. We strive to educate our clients on their current financial situation and their full range of available options. We focus on where to invest profits and help build financially resilient companies that will survive periods of hardship. We consider every option available to us when building our clients’ wealth, when delaying or reducing their taxes through retirement plans, and when guiding them through each chapter of their personal and business’ lifecycle. We also take special care to engage with our clients’ other advisers to ensure they achieve the best outcome.
Tao Financial is the firm we wish our own families could have worked with when they were small business owners. In the true spirit of Gandhi’s timeless quote, we are “being the change we wish to see in the world” by raising the bar for the standards of financial advice provided to business owners and individuals.
“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this.”
-Henry David Thoreau
Institutional-Quality
Advice for Everyone!
After many years of working with one of Orlando’s largest Registered Investment Advisors, a $30 billion firm focused exclusively on institutional clients, our founder, Jeff George, couldn’t help but ask “Why can’t my family and friends have access to this too?”
Once upon a time, this institutional-quality service level would have been too expensive to offer to those who are less affluent. Those days are gone. Technology is changing the investment management process allowing unprecedented access to customized, cost-effective, high-quality investment and financial advice for individual investors and those that couldn’t afford an institutional-quality level of service in the past. We structure our services and our fees in a way that meets the need of each client on their terms, while still helping them achieve their goals with a personal touch.
Who We Are
Tao Financial was formed from a deep-seated belief that the greatest successes in life are achieved by empowering others, striving for balance in all things, and adapting to the ever-changing world around us. Finding harmony in a complicated world is easier than it sounds; it’s a moving target that involves multiple stakeholders such as family, friends, investors, employees, and our communities. Like the business owners and leaders we serve, we recognize that the world is not always straightforward: it can be a confusing mess of competing interests, opportunity and uncertainty, weaving paths and blind curves.
We take a broader, long-term view when considering how each of these factors interacts in the story of a business’ sustainable growth – a community may not directly impact a business’ bottom line… until it does through its wrath or support. Unrewarded employees may be profitable in the short-term while crippling a business’ value and growth in the long-term. A business owner can be both fabulously wealthy and miserable at the same time. Our Whole-Person approach is our answer to these problems – we encourage our clients to adopt a more holistic, personal view of success in addition to their economic goals. Then we build their financial blueprint to incorporate these goals and provide coaching to help them get there.
“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined. As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler.”
-Henry David Thoreau

Follow Jeff:
Jeff is an accomplished financial professional with knowledge and experience in a variety of disciplines including accounting, investment banking, institutional investment consulting, private wealth management, financial planning, and business owner exit planning. During his tenure at JPMorgan Investment Bank, Jeff worked with offices worldwide managing the risks associated with billions of dollars of complex investments. As an investment consultant, Jeff advised on $2 billion in corporate and retirement plan assets in plans such as 401(k)s, pensions, executive deferred compensation plans, executive pension plans, and corporate-owned variable life insurance products. It is this deep, yet broad perspective that allows him to guide business owners through the labyrinth of financial decisions they face while starting, growing, and transitioning their businesses.
As a deep and independent thinker, Jeff seeks to challenge the prevailing views about what it takes to make a business grow, to keep it profitable, and what it means to be successful. He believes that employees always matter. While not investing in them may be more profitable in the short term, the choice to do this can come with significantly greater costs later on. He also believes that concentrated power in the hands of large corporations is a major contributor to growing income inequality, and sees a revival in entrepreneurism as the answer to widespread economic growth and prosperity for future generations. Tao Financial was his answer to this need – a firm built to support sustainable growth in small businesses, to encourage a more holistic view of the role businesses play in our communities, and to advocate for a greater focus on financial wellness for both business owners and employees.
Jeff began his lifetime passion for learning when his grandfather, a former headmaster of the San Antonio Military Academy, began teaching him about the world’s history and wonders at an early age. This sparked a lifelong thirst for new knowledge and new experiences, which drive the standards of personal and professional excellence which guide Jeff today. His interest in the capital markets also began at an early age – Jeff was born on October 19th, 1987, otherwise known as Black Monday, which resulted in the largest single-day stock market decline (on a percentage basis) in U.S. history. The combination of Jeff’s natural curiosity, as well as his own family’s personal experience of loss from stock market crashes, launched him on the long road to understanding ‘What makes markets tick.” Jeff has accumulated extensive knowledge and practical experience in finance and accounting to better understand the risks of the financial marketplace for the benefit of his clients, family, and friends. From the beginning, the goal has been to “Be the change you wish to see in the world” and to prove that professionals in the financial services industry can succeed while always putting clients first and acting with integrity.
During his time at the University of Texas at San Antonio, Jeff studied extensively in the areas of financial reporting, analysis, modeling, and business valuation while obtaining his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting in four years. In acknowledging his academic prowess and pursuit for excellence, the UTSA College of Business allowed him to pursue PhD-level coursework focusing on Big Data-style analysis of corporate financial statements in his final semester.
Jeff’s career began in the wake of the Great Recession as an analyst with JPMorgan Investment Bank in their Fixed Income Rates, Derivatives, and Structured Products division. During this time, Jeff worked with offices around the world to track and manage the risks associated with billions of dollars of complex investments issued out of London, New York, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. Later, Jeff assisted with the creation of JPMorgan’s intermediated futures clearing operation, which focused on managing margins for custom derivative products. After completing JPMorgan Investment Bank’s rigorous analyst development program, Jeff moved to Central Florida to join Newport Group Consulting and reunite with his long-time childhood friend and love interest Sarah(they’re now married).
Newport Group Consulting, one of the largest institutional investment consulting firms in Central Florida with assets under advisement of approximately $30 billion, proved to be a valuable place to grow into the investment advisory business. During his tenure, Jeff earned the CFA charter, one of the most recognized and respected credentials in the global financial services industry and widely considered the gold standard in portfolio management and investment analysis. His work with corporate clients included developing customized investment portfolios and asset allocation programs, instituting a prudent process for monitoring and managing investments over time, and educating business leaders and plan sponsors on sound investment decision-making. He also envisioned, developed, tested, marketed, and launched innovative new services to meet his corporate clientele’ specific needs. Before leaving Newport Group, Jeff served as the acting investment consultant to a significant number of national and regional firms totaling nearly $2 billion in total assets, many of which are a household name.
Prior to opening his own firm, Jeff served as an investment advisor for a prominent financial planning firm headquartered in Winter Park, FL. During this time, he was immersed in comprehensive personal financial planning and private wealth management disciplines. Jeff was determined, on a completely independent basis, to find a means to offer clients both:
- Financial planning services tailored to the needs of business owners and;
- Institutional-quality investment advice to individuals.
Understanding this vision was unlikely to be achieved without opening a new firm, Jeff decided to launch Tao Financial. An entirely new company dedicated to these standards in 2020 in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic and economic shutdowns.
Personal Background & Interests:
Jeff and his wife Sarah are lovers of all fine arts varieties, from painting and sculpture to stage plays and symphonies. They are also avid travelers and cultural enthusiasts with a passion for experiencing how others live throughout the world.
On the weekends, you might come across Jeff and Sarah watching a show put on by Central Florida Vocal Arts, Mad Cow Theater, or the Dr. Philips Center. You may also find them hanging out at a number of the local dog parks with their dachshund-chihuahua mix Shorty (a.k.a. Chief People-Greeter). They are also members of the Orlando chapter of Texas Exes, the alumni association for the University of Texas, which engages in volunteer and social gatherings in the local area throughout the year.
In his spare time, Jeff likes to volunteer and give back to the community. Since his early years, Jeff has formed friendships with special needs individuals. This experience grew into regular support for organizations such as Camp Boggy Creek, the Special Olympics, and the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida (DSACF).
Other interests include gardening/permaculture, hi-fidelity audio experiences, hiking, cooking, psychology, philosophy, stand-up comedy, and community involvement.
Meet Shorty
Chief People-Greeter
Shorty is Tao Financial’s Chief People-Greeter. In spite of her rather large-sounding bark, this pint-size bundle of fluff is all cuddles and snuggles. Shorty generally insists on screening all new visitors and is especially interested when they, too, have a four-legged friend.
Her favorite pastimes include barking at the mailman, playing catch-and-release with the local lizard population, playing with her Orlando Doxies buddies, and licking her daddy’s face. Shorty is available for meetings upon request.
